Adipose Tissue Biopsies
Brief description of study
To help further our understanding of the best practices for collecting and processing adipose tissue samples for use in research related to obesity and the metabolism. The primary outcome is the collection of adequate adipose tissue sample. i.e., at least 1 gram, from the gluteal and abdominal sites to ensure a large enough volume for desired tests of interest in the future. Secondary outcomes include ensuring that the tissue processing and storage procedures ensure a sample's integrity for use in desired tests of interest in the future. Following collection and processing of the adipose tissue, we will take a 1 squared cm micropunch of the adipose tissue to homogenize and screen for RNA integrity via a nanodrop to confirm RNA integrity for protocol optimization.
