GVRI biomarker study 2021

Brief description of study

Nearly 20% of children with Neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) will develop an optic pathway glioma (OPG), a low-grade glioma that involves one or more structures of the anterior visual pathway (AVP, i.e., optic nerves, optic chiasm and optic tracts). OPGs can cause permanent vision loss which has a significant impact on the childs health and quality of life. The primary objective of this proposal is to adequately develop data on the retinal phenotypes associated with vision loss in NF1-OPG.
