Nasal Inhalation Influences on Smell Function
Brief description of study
The aim of this study is to see whether nasal inhalation can help recover smell loss.
Quantitative olfactory testing will be initially
performed on the participants. Such
testing will require approximately one hour of the participant’s time. Each
participant will subsequently be sent in the mail a box that contains a set of
10 felt-tipped “wands” and instructions on how to sniff the wand tips before
and after going to bed. Additionally, each subject will be provided with a diary to be filled out each day after having smelled through the odorants the evening before and the morning upon awakening. After 4 months, the participants will be
retested on the olfactory tests and the
training kits will be returned.
