CONFOCAL LASER ENDOMICROSCOPY NODULE LOCALIZATION BY ROBOTIC BONCHOSCOPY (CLEAR STUDY)

Brief description of study

This research study is being done to investigate if a new technique called ‘needle-based confocal laser endomicroscopy’ (abbreviated as nCLE) is helpful in patients who are undergoing a bronchoscopy to obtain a tissue sample (biopsy) of a lung nodule. The nCLE technique will be used as an addition to the standard bronchoscopy biopsy procedure, to help determine whether the biopsy needle is placed accurately in the lung nodule when the biopsy is taken. The bronchoscopy procedure, as well as the screening tests before the procedure, and the follow-up after the procedure will take place according to Study doctor David DiBardino’s standard of care at the University of Pennsylvania. If you choose to participate in the study, the actual study procedure with the nCLE technique will be performed as an addition to this standard of care.
