Impact of COVID-19 on Binge Eating among Patients with Obesity
Brief description of study
Do you feel that your eating is out of control? Are you
eating more food than most people? Do you feel depressed or guilty after
overeating? You might be interested in participating in a research study
observing the relationship between COVID-19 and disordered eating habits in
young adults across the U.S.
The purpose of this study is to compare the prevalence of food insecurity and the prevalence of depression, anxiety, and loneliness among young adults (aged 18-35) with and without Binge Eating Disorder (BED) during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Online questionnaires should take around 20-30 minutes to complete. You would commit to only 1 session of completing questionnaires.
Detailed description of study
This study is looking for participants to fill two groups:
Group 1: 18-35 year old adults, with Binge Eating Disorder and a BMI above 30kg/m2
Group 2: 18- 35 year old adults without Binge Eating Disorder, and BMI above
30kg/m2
30kg/m2
We need 100 participants for each group.
Eligible participants will be asked to complete an online survey that will assess eating habits, mood, and lifestyle factors. This study will use online, self-administered questionnaires distributed using RedCAP, a secure database.
All questionnaires and information will be kept confidential. Participants who complete the survey will be compensated $20 via Amazon gift card.
