Evaluation of In Vivo Neuroinflammation in Alzheimers Disease Using Novel Positron Emission Tomography (PET/CT) Imaging

Evaluation of In Vivo Neuroinflammation in Alzheimers Disease Using Novel Positron Emission Tomography (PET/CT) Imaging

Brief description of study

PET/CT imaging will be used to evaluate neuroinflammation in subjects with Alzheimer's Disease and Healthy Controls, using the investigational radiotracers [11C]PBR28 and[18F]NOS. Each subject will have one PET/CT session that includes both [11C]PBR28 and [18F]NOS injections and scan of the brain performed sequentially. Subjects may also undergo a brain MRI if they have not had an adequate MRI within 6 months or 1 year of enrollment.

We plan to enroll adult subjects in this study, patients with a diagnosis of Alzheimer's Disease or mild cognitive impairment (AD cohort) and Healthy Controls (HC cohort) that are part of the UPenn Alzheimer's Disease Center (ADC) research cohort. Subjects will also have a brain MRI scan if they have not had one within 6 months or 1 year of the PET scan visit.
