Blood Donor Protocol for those recovered from COVID-19, suspected exposure and Healthy Volunteers

Blood Donor Protocol for those recovered from COVID-19, suspected exposure and Healthy Volunteers

Brief description of study

The purpose of this study is to understand how the body learns to fight infections, through influenza vaccination or after SARS-CoV2 infection that causes COVID-19.
After exposure to one of these pathogens or vaccine, the body’s white blood cells, which defend against infections, are mobilized. As the infection is cleared, the immune system is left with memory cells which are able to recognize the pathogen again the next time an infection occurs. Some details of how memory is formed for antibody production is not completely understood. Better understanding of the establishment of memory cells and antibody responses will help future efforts to develop better vaccines
