Site Image

Study Overview

We are looking for healthy volunteers to participate in a study to see if a particular type of medication (statin) has an impact on the kind of bacteria that are found in the gut, and if the gut bacteria affects how the body responds to the medication. If you participate in the study, you will be asked to take the medication or a placebo for 8 weeks.  If you qualify, your participation would last about 4 months, during which time there are 4 brief visits to the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania. Compensation is offered to eligible participants for completed study visits.

Study Description

The study involves taking rosuvastatin 20 mg daily or placebo pill (sugar pill) for 8 weeks. Samples collected at visits will include blood, urine, and stool along with vital signs and other measurements.
