UPenn Healthy Savings Study
Brief description of study
The purpose of the
study is to learn more about food shopping habits and patterns and how people
shop for groceries. We would like to test a Healthy Savings Program that provides discounts on healthy foods to learn about what could encourage people to shop healthier.
Shoppers from 240 low-income families with children living in Philadelphia will
be recruited.
Detailed description of study
If eligible and enrolled in the
study, participation will last 8 months. Participants will be asked to:
- Download a Healthy Savings app that will provide weekly discounts on healthy foods at the supermarket. Discounts may differ for participants.
- Scan their app/card at the register each time they shop at a participating ACME store.
- Complete surveys about their shopping habits, and diet for themselves and one child in the family at 3 time points. Surveys can be completed online or over the phone.
These surveys will be completed at enrollment, at the end of 6 months, and at
the end of 8 months. You will be compensated at the
completion of each time point.
