Does vaginal delivery of combined hormonal contraception affect the risk of metabolic syndrome in overweight/obese women with PCOS?
Brief description of study
This research study is being conducted to determine if there is an effect on the development of Metabolic Syndrome (MetS) in women with PCOS when using NuvaRing. This study will recruit 40 women between the ages of 18-40, with a diagnosis of PCOS, NO diagnosis of MetS, and a BMI between 25 and 45. Women will be asked to use NuvaRing for 4 months. They will have fasting bloodwork (including OGTT) at baseline and four months, and will be contacted once a month by research staff.
