Brief description of study

Interested in Joining a WW (formerly Weight Watchers) Research Study?
Researchers from the University of Pennsylvania are currently recruiting research participants for a randomized clinical trial examining how the brain responds to food images and memory tasks after a behavioral weight loss treatment for women with obesity.

Detailed description of study

In this study, participants will be randomized to either a 16-week, group-based WW (formerly known as Weight Watchers) intervention or to a wait-list control. Both groups will have functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI) scans at baseline and after 16-weeks.
Research procedures for qualified participants will be provided at no cost and include:
  • 16 weeks of the WW (formerly Weight Watchers) program
  • Study-related medical examinations and behavioral assessments
  • Two fMRI brain scans
  • Reimbursement for travel and compensation of up to $385.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Obesity,Overweight,Weight Loss
  • Age: Between 18 Years - 60 Years
  • Gender: Female

Eligible participants:
  • Female between 18-60 years of age
  • BMI > 30
  • Without Type 1 or Type 2 Diabetes
