Study Seeking Mirena IUD Users (Compensated)

Brief description of study

This study is no longer recruiting! For other studies at the Women's Health Clinical Research Center, visit www.whcrc.upenn.edu. Thank you! The purpose of this study is to learn more about the safety, tolerability, and effectiveness of using the Mirena® IUD past 5, for up to 8 years. If you participate, you will be asked to keep your current Mirena® IUD for an additional 3 years beyond the 5 year removal date, and attend 8 visits to the University of Pennsylvania. You will be compensated up to $1,838 for participating in this study. .

Detailed description of study

You may be eligible for this study if: » You are a woman between the ages of 18 and 33 - » You are currently using a Mirena® for birth control OR birth control and heavy menstrual blood loss - » You have been using the same Mirena® for at least 4.5 years - » You are willing to use the study drug as your main form of contraception - » You are sexually active with a male partner who has not had a vasectomy.
