Mechanisms of Increased Cardiovascular Disease Risk in Women with Migraine

Brief description of study

Healthy volunteers are needed for an observational research study at HUP and CHOP. This study examines the relationship between migraine headaches, nutrition, inflammation, and cardiovascular disease risk in women. The study involves a telephone screening and one in-person visit that will last 6-8 hours. During this visit participants will undergo some tests before and after eating a high-fat high-carbohydrate meal. Compensation will be provided.

Detailed description of study

To be potentially eligible for this research study, we require the following: -Female between the ages of 18 to 35 years, inclusive -BMI 18.5 to 24.9 kg/m2 OR BMI above 30 kg/m2 -Able to fast for 10 hours overnight and/or abstain from caffeine intake for 24 hours -Not pregnant or nursing -Not a current of former smoker -No chronic use of medications, including oral contraceptives -No major medical or psychiatry illness (e.g. diabetes, fibromyalgia, major depression/anxiety)
