“The Shift Worker’s Microbiome”

“The Shift Worker’s Microbiome”

Brief description of study

We are looking for healthy males, age 40-59 years old, non-smoking un-medicated who work the "shift-work" schedule (>3 shifts per month outside 7 am-6 pm for the past 10 or more years & own a smartphone which installs the remote sensing applications. or "day workers" who work 7 am-6 pm for 10 or more years, non-smoking, males age 40-59 years old & own a smartphone which installs the remote sensing applications. Individuals who work night shifts or rotating shift schedules are more likely to develop cardiovascular disease (stroke and heart attack) and diabetes (high blood sugar). This is thought to be related to the long-term disruption of these workers’ body clocks associated with changing or nighttime schedules.
