Brain Imaging Study - Connectome Anxious Misery

Brief Description Of Study

Every year more than 30% (2 billion) of the worlds population and 75 million adult Americans suffer from disorders that can be described by the term “anxious misery.” Although these conditions traditionally have been separated by psychiatric diagnoses according to their predominant symptoms, for example major depressive disorder (MDD), post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and generalized anxiety disorder (GAD) there is much overlap and high rates of co-occurrence. We will recruit 250 male and female participants, age 18-45. 200 will be presenting with symptoms of "anxious misery," representing the spectrum of traditional depressive and anxiety disorders and 50 will be healthy controls. Study protocols include screening, neurocognitive and clinical assessment, optional DNA sampling, and magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) acquisition. ***Please note that there is currently a 2-3 month wait-list for HEALTHY CONTROL participants. We are NOT accepting any new control participants at this time.***

Clinical Study Identifier: 824132

Detailed Study Description

Participants will attend 2 study visits & do at-home monitoring for 1 week. During the study visits, participants will complete:clinical interviews and assessments, including self-report questionnaires about their thoughts, feelings, and mood, computerized cognitive assessments, and functional MRI scans. Additionally, participants will complete 1 week of activity and mood monitoring at home. The total time requirement for this study is approximately 8 hours. The study will take place at the University of Pennsylvania. Participants will receive financial compensation for each part of the study. ***Please note that there is currently a 2-3 month wait-list for HEALTHY CONTROL participants. We are NOT accepting any new control participants at this time.***
