Detailed description of study

Researchers at Drexel University and the University of Pennsylvania are conducting a study on neurological factors contributing to eating disorder symptomatology. If you are over the age of 18, are thin because of weight losses, engage in binge eating, or both, and are in outpatient treatment with the primary purpose of treating an eating disorder, you may be eligible to participate in this study. This is not a treatment study; it is only an assessment study. Participants can continue uninterrupted in their current treatment. Assessments for all participants will include interviewing you about your eating disorder symptoms and measuring your weight, height and weight history; completing self-report questionnaires; a saliva sample to collect genetic information; an fMRI scan; a blood draw to measure your hormone levels; returning to our clinic after 3 months and again after 6 months total to have your weight measured and to complete questionnaires. Participants will be financially compensated up to $500.
