Evaluation of Vascular Health Profile in Predicting Venous Thromboembolism

Study Overview
The main goal of this study is to utilize previously validated cytometric markers of to identify cancer patients at high risk of VTE. The primary outcome will be DVT or pulmonary embolism (PE). Patients with pancreatic and brain cancer will be enrolled as these patients are known to have higher rates of VTE relative to other forms of cancer. Patients will receive a screening duplex ultrasound, interval 3 month ultrasound for asymptomatic DVT and will be followed longitudinally for one year. Blood will be collected during the initial screening, at the three month interval follow-up (at time of second ultrasound) and any VTE event over the course of the year for cytometric analysis and MP TF activity.
