Investigational Drug Study for Partial Seizures (YKP3089)

Investigational Drug Study for Partial Seizures (YKP3089)

Brief description of study

This research study is designed to evaluate the safety of an investigational drug called YKP3089 and to help researchers understand how YKP3089 and other anti-epileptic drugs affect each other in the body when taken together.

Detailed description of study

We are looking for patients with partial epilepsy who have uncontrolled or poorly controlled seizures despite having been treated with other anti-epileptic drugs. If you are eligible and decide to participate, you will be asked to come to Penn for outpatient visits that will last about 1-2 hours. At first, you will start taking small amounts of YKP3089 and gradually increase the dose under the study doctor's supervision, which is known as titration. Visits during the titration phase will be every 2 weeks. Then, once the desired dose is reached, you will need to come in less often. This is called the maintenance phase. Study visits may include the following procedures: vital signs, blood draw, physical and neurological exams, and questionnaires. You will not be asked to stop any other medications you may be taking.

Eligibility of study

You may be eligible for this study if you meet the following criteria:

  • Conditions:
    Epilepsy,Partial Epilepsies,Temporal Lobe Epilepsy,Convulsions,Complex Partial Epilepsy,Frontal Lobe Epilepsy,Partial,Sensory,Motor
